Phil Gooding (1956-2001) Alfie Savery (1952-2001)

July 2001 saw the passing of two former Rumney 1st XV players - Phil Gooding and Alfie Savery. It goes without saying that both Phil and Alfie will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by everyone at Rumney RFC.

Representative Rugby

Mike Feneck, Neil Coles and Mike Kelly have been selected to represent Wales in the International Under 20s Tournament in Italy from the 28th August to the 2nd September 2001.

Rumney RFC will be touring in Italy at the end of the 2001-2002 season.

John Bruno

Top sports psychologist John Bruno is currently working with the Rumney 1st XV squad on neuro linguistic programming and dietary plans.

General Manager

The Club now has a General Manager, Mike Barker. Mike has already indicated a number of improvements he has in mind (catering for one). Mike is a Rumney 'stalwart' having served the club very well over the past seasons both as a player and coach. Everyone wishes him well and will be giving Mike their full support.

Pre-season Training

If you are interested in playing in the Welsh 1st Division in the coming season, please come along to Rumney RFC on any training night.
Training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6.30 pm at Riverside Park, all new players are very welcome - come along and have a chat with Shaun and Baz about playing for Rumney 1st XV, Athletic XV or 3rd XV

For the 2001-2002 season the Dutch Barn at Llanrumney High School has been booked from October to March for 'dry weather' training.
