Rumney started the game well but fell away later in the game and Llanharan ran in five tries. The home side took the lead through an early try by Mark Roper but Rumney winger Mark Addis replied with a spectacular solo try to level the scores. Just before half time Christian Wills burst through five tackles on a fifty metre run that gave Rumney a 10 - 15 interval lead. Llanharan winger Scott Bowen scored two tries and more home tries came from Phil Agar and Greg Jones with Wayne Jervis converting four of them. Matthew Silva replied with two penalties for Rumney.
Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV :"Another game we let slip away from us. Turning around at half time 15-10 in front and looking in control and confident, we released the pressure and allowed the opposition to come back into the game. We must learn to keep focused and the results will follow. It was great to see Adrian Wainwright putting his game together, he will take great encouragement from this. Once again Christian Wills played an important role and scored a fine try along with Mark Addis who played very well, scored a superb try and was voted Man of the Match."
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC 1st XV Team Manager : "We led 10 - 15 at half time and looked like the only side that was going to win but then Llanharan scored a try and followed it up with another for a score of 24 -15. We came back with two penalties to make it 24 -18 but Llanharan scored a try and followed that up with another in the last minute when their scrum half broke away."
Michael Peard, Captain Rumney RFC 1st XV : " In the first half we played against the elements and came out ahead, which I was pleased with. Mark Addis and Christian Wills both scored outstanding tries. We knew that we had to go out in the second half and take the game by the scruff of the neck but in the first fifteen minutes we were not committed enough. We started to take control again but then, with our loose head prop having been sent off and our hooker sin binned, Llanharan scored and from then on we were fighting a losing battle and we let in two soft late tries."
