Rumney's impressive run of good performances continued with this hard fought victory over a talented Carmarthen Quins side at the Cardiff University ground. In the absence of Michael Peard, centre Nick Stork took on the captaincy and earned the Man of the Match award, contributing to each of Rumney's four tries. The first try came from a scrum with Rumney No.8 Scott Eggar picking up at the base and passing directly to centre Stork who cut through the Carmarthen defence to touch down. A few minutes later the powerful centre was dummying his way in under the posts for his second try following a good forward movement which had resulted in several phases of possession and good ball for the threequarters. A similar forward drive led to another movement amongst the backs and this time it was unstoppable fullback Christian Wills who crossed for the home side's third try. Carmarthen hit back with two tries either side of half time - a long distance breakaway by left wing Warren Leach and a darting blindside effort from scrumhalf Gareth Jones. A Matthew Silva penalty stretched Rumney's lead before the home side produced the outstanding try of the day - Carmarthen were attacking deep in their opponents' 22 when a turnover gave possession to Rumney and scrumhalf Keith Lee released his threequarters from close to their goal line. Outside half Matthew Silva neatly passed to Nick Stork who in turn fed fellow centre Mark Addis and with a devestating break, very similar to the one with which he shattered the Swansea defence a week earlier, Addis broke far upfield and fed right wing Robert Walsh with the scoring pass to seal the game for Rumney.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "I thought the game was played by two sides intent on playing good quality rugby. I felt the difference between the sides was our very good defence, in the first half we made good use of the possession and scored good quality tries. During the second half Carmarthen put a lot of pressure on us but the squad rallied together and showed a great deal of commitment. We fully deserved the victory and we now look forward to playing Abercynon next week. Man of the Match for Rumney was acting captain Nick Stork."

Michael Peard, Rumney RFC 1st XV Captain : "It was a great game to watch. All the players once again showed the determination and commitment to win which has been such an important part of our performances in the last few weeks and this was with a number of senior players missing today. It was a thoroughly deserved win against one of the leading sides in the division. Our defence was sound and the scoreline reflects the hold we had on the opposition. I was thoroughly pleased with the overall performance of every player and those who came on certainly took their chances and pressed their claims for regular first team places."
