Rumney's excellent end of season form continued with a convincing win over Newbridge, though the found themselves ten points down after only fifteen minutes. Huw Lock dropped a goal for the visitors and Newbridge added a furher score when full back Gethin Patterson collected an accurate kick ahead to score the opening try of the game. Rumney outside half Matthew Silva placed his forwards in try scoring positions with fine kicking and the power of the home side's pack resulted in tries for flanker Simon Greedy and No 8 Scott Eggar. Lock Mike Peard's outrageous dummy gave Rumney their third try when he crossed near the posts and shortly afterwards Scott Eggar drove over for his second try to put the game out of Newbridge's reach, despite a last minute try from flanker Manu Tuipolota.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A very impressive first half performance producing quality rugby, culminating in first class tries. The second half was disappointing as we once again allowed the opposition a chance to get back into the game. We must learn to be more clinical once we're in the lead and maintain that high standard for the entire game. Man of the Match for Rumney was Scott Eggar."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC 1st Team Manager : "The first half was brilliant, really exciting, but for whatever reason it tailed off in the second half. We certainly deserved to win and we are heading for our best ever finish in Division One."

Danny Lee, Rumney RFC : "The first half was wonderful to watch and there were some excellent tries scored. I certainly didn't think the second half was as good as the first, it was very dour and Rumney kicked away a lot of possession. On one occasion Newbridge collected the ball from a Rumney kick, turned defence into attack and scored a try ! The Rumney scrum half played well, what's his name ? Keith Lee ?"

Wayne Murphy, flanker Rumney RFC 1st XV : "I thoroughly enjoyed the game, we played well in the first half and the pace of the back line told in the end. I thought Paul Langley played very well. I can't wait to go out for a beer tonight !"

Nick Stork, centre Rumney RFC 1st XV : "It was all part of life's rich and varied tapestry."
