Rumney never really hit top gear at Pandy Park and Tondu ran out winners scoring five tries to one. The first half saw tries for the home side from Adrian Phillips and Matthew Tatchell, Rumney's only reply being a Matthew Silva penalty. In the second half Rumney did score a very good try when a threequarter movement led to Martin Cawley crossing in the corner but the loss of influential back row player and captain Simon Greedy, with an ankle injury, took its toll and Tondu crossed for a further three tries. In the closing stages Rumney made strong efforts to reduce the home side's lead but could not break through the Tondu defence.

Shaun Lee. Coach Rumney 1st XV :"The performance from the side was very disappointing, we made a number of very basic errors which Tondu capitalised upon. There are certain areas of our game which we need to improve and they will be addressed. I was very pleased with new centre Mark Addis, he made use of every opportunity he was given and was voted Man of the Match. We must now move on and look to next week's game with Abertillery."
