Scorers for Treorchy : Gareth Morris try, Richard Langmead conversion and four penalties

Rumney outside half Matthew Silva collected twenty two points in the defeat of Treorchy at The Oval and took his side back into the top six of the First Division. Treorchy scored the first try of the game when Gareth Morris crossed from a quickly taken penalty but Rumney soon struck back when a lengthy passing movement between forwards and backs saw winger Ian McIntyre power through the home side's defence to touch down under the posts. Silva converted and added two excellent drop goals. Rumney led 13-19 at half time and it was late in the second half when a take against the head allowed scrum half Glyn Welsh to feed Silva who in turn passed the ball to Martin Cawley, looped ouside the winger and took the return pass to cross in the corner for a fine and decisive try.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A splendid display from the Rumney squad. We introduced new players due to late injury problems and they came through with flying colours. I thought that we controlled the game very well and could have won by a larger margin. The Rumney pack played a huge role in this result as it gave Matthew Silva a great platform to work from. I consider this game to be the best Matthew has played for the club, his control and kicking display was top drawer material and he fully deserved the Man of the Match award. We now look forward to our last three league games at home and our game against Welsh Academicals on Wednesday."
