Scorers for Rumney : D.Jones try, M.Milsom penalty
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A very poor display by Rumney. There was no pattern to our play and the faults that have been there all year really came out tonight. We got what we deserved."
Peter McCardle, Rumney RFC : "It was terrible wasn't it ? Rumney didn't adopt the right tactics in the first half, made no use of the wind and paid for it in the second half."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A young Rumney side playing against an older St.Albans side and when we ran the ball they had no answer to it. Youth players Paul Bull, Gareth Niblett and Ryan Sutton all had excellent games with Ryan Sutton being voted the Man of the Match."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A good game though Rumney did go 29 -17 down ten minutes into the second half ! At that point they turned on the magic and ran in five tries without reply. Michael Feneck had an outstanding game and the Man of the Match was Neil Coles."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A good entertaining game with both sides looking to run the ball despite the heavy conditions underfoot. The match was played in a good spirit with Rumney missing a few chances to score and Llanharan battling all the way to the final whistle. Mr Peter Coles refereed the game in a masterful fashion and could possibly be destined for a place on the International Panel."
Scorers for Rumney : Matthew Miller try, Matthew Kearle try, Michael Kelly try, Darren Jones try, Stuart McIntyre try and 3 conversions
Mike Glavin,
Coach Rumney RFC : "In Caerleon we came up against a very
strong Division 3 East side who are doing well in the league.
They have a huge pack so the Rumney forwards did particularly
well in blustery conditions to win enough ball to set loose our
exciting backs. Stuart McIntyre controlled the game from outside
half and contributed a blistering seventy yard try. Because Caerleon
dominated at forward most of Rumney's tries came from turnovers
and good ball handling led to fine tries by Matthew Miller and
Matthew Kearle. After half time Caerleon went back to nine man
rugby and the Rumney coaches were pleased that the second half
was characterised by good tackling. Referee Simon Derrett awarded
nineteen penalties against us compared to Caerleon's six but we
kept them out and only conceded a penalty try. The Man of the
Match was Darren Jones who tackled his heart out. It was an excellent
result and hats off to Caerleon for giving us such a good game."
Scorers for Rumney : G.Kemble try, M.Miller try, M.Feneck try, B.Mathew 2 conversions
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "Rumney Athletic continue to rebuild and after good games against St Peters and Dunvant, this performance against Bedwas was outstanding. Bedwas were extremely strong up front and played a mauling game but Rumney's lighter, mobile side was was able to play a more open, exciting gameplan and in a flowing movement where the ball passed through eight pairs of hands, Matthew Miller went over for an excellent try. Coach Jeff Norman and I are etremely pleased that the squad is coming together well again ready for the next round of the Mallett Cup, the draw for which is being made next Monday. Today proved that the Athletic is a good side and everyone played their part with the forwards turning in an outstanding display. Rumney's new signing James Alves, who has played for Pontypridd and Exeter, showed that he is an extremely powerful scrummager and we hope to see James in the 1st XV soon. Michael Kelly was voted Man of the Match and seems to be proving his coaches wrong by demonstrating that his future probably is in the back row ! Bedwas were defending an unbeaten home record but Rumney went into the game with the right attitude and came away with the win."

Ian Riby, Rumney RFC : "A very entertaining game. After a slow start our pace and fitness told and we overwhelmed the Rocks. Rumney came up with a lot of good moves which involved the backs linking well with the forwards to score some lovely tries. To be fair St Peters never gave up and made a good game of it,"

Scorers for Rumney : Ben Mathew try and 4 conversions, Lotu Ngungutau try, George Kemble try, Pauli Masoe try
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "It was good to see the seconds playing so well after not having had a fixture for some time and once they got themselves together it was a strong performance. Pauli Masoe played well on his debut for Rumney and scored a good try and so did strong running prop Lotu Ngungutau. Chris Walsh stepped up well and Michael Kelly had an excellent game in the second row, which the coaches feel is his best position and he was voted Man of the Match. The game was unfortunately cut short for safety reasons when a Dunvant player suffered a broken shin, but the Rumney pack is playing well and we are looking forward to the next round of the Mallett Cup."
Scorers for Rumney : Lotu Ngungutau try, Graham Burke try, Paul Niblett try, Neil Ritchie 3 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "We were in the game until the last ten minutes but then Dunvant ran away with. The most spectacular part of the game was when our prop Lotu Ngungutau ran sixty yards for a brilliant solo try. The Man of the Match was Neil Ritchie."
Scorers for Rumney : G. Burke try, P.Foster conversion
Jim O'Brien,
Rumney RFC : "We were absolutely dreadful with no more
than a few players living up to expectations. Graham Burke and
centre Anthony Jones tried hard and had decent games but it was
a shocking performance against a very strong Risca side."

Scorers for Rumney : penalty try, Ben Wilson conversion and 3 penalties
Jeff Norman, Coach Rumney RFC : "This was a very hard fought encounter. We spent the first half trying to contain the Fairwater forwards and get free of the shackles they put on us. At half time we discussed the error of our ways, upped the tempo and went on to dominate the second half with a really gutsy, committed performance against a very big and physical pack. I hope this will kick start the rest of the season for us. Man of the Match, Michael Carey."
Peter McCardle, Rumney RFC : "We played into Fairwater's hands by taking it into the pack too much and they were killing the ball and dropping the scrum until referee David Williams had to award us a penalty try. Grant Harrington, Michael Carey, Stuart Coles and the whole front row had excellent games."
Scorers for Rumney : Darren Jones try, Mark Armstrong try and conversion and penalty
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "A good, hard local derby and a satisfying performance considering that Fairwater are topping Division 7 in their first year as a full Welsh Rugby Union team and have not been beaten since Rumney defeated them in the Mallett CupFinal ! We were forced to play three hookers in our front row and were really unable to establish a platform against a very solid pack. Our defence was awesome and kept out many attacks. Darren Jones was the Man of the Match and he has been selected to play for the Rumney 1st XV away to Newbridge on Tuesday evening."
Paul Whitcombe, Rumney RFC : "Fairwater had a big, strong pack and we struggled against them especially when the scored a push over try. Rumney ran the ball back into the forwards a lot and used too much crash ball when it would have been better to spread the ball wide from the start."

Scorers for Rumney : Ben Wilson try and 4 conversions, Darren Jones try, Graham Burke try, Ian McIntyre 2 tries, David Willey try, Lotu Ngungutau try, Chris Coles conversion
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "In the first half too many players were going on their own and ignoring the quality players outside them but when we settled down and took control of the mauls we spread the ball wide and ran the opposition off their feet. The game marked the first appearance for Rumney by our new signing Adrian Cox and towards the end it proved to be an enjoyable match."

Scorers for Rumney : S.Coles 2 tries, G.Kemble try, B.Mathew penalty and conversion

Scorers for Rumney : M.Peard try, G.Armstrong conversion and 2 penalties
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "I was very pleased with the way we were able to successfully change our game plan for this match. We adopted a more physical approach and it worked with Mike Peard crashing over for the try. The College did everything they could to break through but full back Dave Holtam prevented two certain tries. This was a sound performance against a side who put 113 points on their opposition last week. The Athletic XV is proving to be a good platform for the 1st team and there is the opportunity for any player with ambition to aim at a 1st XV place. The Man of the Match was Stuart Coles who is aiming at returning to the 1st XV following injury."
Billy Coles, Rumney RFC : "It was a good game to watch. There were strong defences on both sides but we stopped the students running, took them on up front and rucked them out of it."
Scorers for Rumney : Liam Maqueline try, Paul Foster try, Georgie Kemble try, Graham Burke try, Stuart Coles try, Ben Matthews 4 conversions, Ben Wilson conversion
Michael Peard,
Rumney RFC : "Rumney had the upper hand in the forwards
and we pushed Mountain Ash off the ball in the scrums. We dominated
the set pieces but we missed a number of try scoring opportunities
and we should have ended up with more points. Man of the Match,
Stuart Coles."
Scorers for Rumney : Andrew Wilkinson try, Ben Wilson try and 3 conversions, Gareth Walsh try, Michael Carey try, Michael Kelly try, Darren Jones try, Paul Foster 2 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "An excellent performance against a mature side. Our fitness was far superior and a young Rumney team turned around 26-7 up. We dominated the second half but should have scored more points. We are definitely improving and today James Walsh and James Harris were outstanding. It was pleasing to see Stuart Coles making a successful comeback. The Man of the Match was Andy Wilkinson."
Scorers for Rumney : R.Walsh try, I.Naltoko 2 tries, P.Foster try, S.Hill try, B.Wilson 4 conversions
Peter McCardle, Rumney RFC : "Rumney had a few good runs in the backs and the pack won plenty of lineout ball but we did get pushed back in the scrums and overall it was not good teamwork. With the amount of possession we had it was a shame to see everyone charging through trying to score, it looked like a team of individuals rather than a tight unit, but it was good to see new Rumney player Ika Naitoko put in an impressive performance and claim his two tries. Man of the Match was Georgie Kemble."

Scorers for Rumney : Andrew Boyd 2 tries, Liam Maqueline try, James Harris try, Robert Walsh try, Georgie Kemble conversion
Mike Glavin, Coach Rumney RFC : "The game was fast and flowing in parts but after a reasonable opening Ystrad slowed it all down. I'm trying to gel together a young side and we welcomed back Neil Edges who formed an excellent back row today with Shaun Hill and Michael Feneck. At present there is a good combination of youngsters and old heads but we are still looking for quality players. Andrew Boyd was outstanding and scored a brilliant solo try from a Jeff Norman pass and for a team with so many youngsters in it we have done very well so far, winning two out of three games."
Scorers for Rumney : Andrew Boyd try, James Walsh try, Danny Williams penalty and conversion
Scorers for Rumney : M.Carey try, C.Marchment try, D.Williams penalty
Paul Whitcombe, Rumney RFC : "Rumney won their fair share of possession but our defence was poor and Llanharan made big inroads into it. We also won plenty of lineout ball but did not make any use of it."
