Scorer for Rumney : Mike Deacon 2 penalties
Scorer for Llanrumney : Royston Davies try, conversion and penalty
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A very, very disappointing display by Rumney who appeared to think that they only had to turn up to win. No onein the Rumney team could take much credit from this game. After all the god coaching work put in by Mark Oliver, this was a very disappointing end to the season."
Billy Coles, Rumney RFC : "Words fail me but considering that we had twenty five penalties awarded to us, it was poor kicking that let us down. We had our chances but couldn't convert them into points. A disappointing game for Rumney."

Scorers for Rumney : J.Wheeler try, E.Ford try, M.Williams try, M.Deacon 2 penalties and 2 conversions
Jim O'Brien,
Rumney RFC : "We made hard work of it and though we were
nowhere near our best we thoroughly deserved the win. In the second
half , against a very strong wind, we managed to score a good
try but also gave away far too many penalties, ten in fact ! The
Man of the Match was John Greedy. Rumney will play Llanrumney
in the Ninian Stuart Cup Final at Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday
24th April."

Scorers for Rumney : L.Feneck 3 tries and 4 conversions, E.Ford try, S.Hutchings try, N.Cobalt try, D.Evans try
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A very entertaining, genuine veterans game with both sides wanting to play rugby. Lofty Cobalt's try was outstanding !"
Scorers for Rumney : A.Paynter 2 tries, S.Neil 2 tries, D.Phillips try, T.Wellington try, J.Norman try, S.Hill try, J.Greedy try, M.Feneck try, M.Deacon try and 4 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A very even first half with Rumney leading 17 - 7 at the interval but then the introduction of new, younger players for older ones saw us running riot, although the visitors never gave up."
Con Ritchie, Rumney RFC : "An excellent performance with Rumney scoring some brilliant tries. The victory was down to the front five but the back row was outstanding and the backs scored tries which came straight out of the training manual."

Scorers for Rumney : A.Paynter try, J.Wheeler try
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "With the sort of team that Senghenydd put out it looked like we were going to be on the wrong end of a sixty pointer but ater being outplayed in the first half we dug deep and kept the score respectable. Rumney dominated Senghenydd in the scrums and it was a gritty performance in the end but we could have made a few more scores. Martin Young was the Man of the Match."
Steve Elliott, Rumney RFC : "Things started badly for us and we took too long to settle down. We struggled until we realised that they only wanted to play a wide open game so when our forwards took control we came back into it. Our lack of pace let us down but we did improve in the second half and in fairness it was a good result against a strong Senghenydd side, we stuck to our guns and our heads didn't drop."
Dave Evans, flanker Rumney RFC : "Lack of concentration in the first twenty minutes let Senghenyyd in for four tries and then it was difficult to come back. In the second half Rumney kept it tight and we played to our skills but we still found their defence hard to break down."
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "The best side won and Llanishen will now probably clinch the league title, their forwards were on top for most of the game and they deserved to win."
Scorers for Rumney : Jason Wheeler 2 tries and 1 conversion, Darren Phillips 2 tries, Lee Brincat 2 tries, Matthew Williams try, Martin Buckley try. Michael Deacon 2 tries and 5 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Llandaff North had no answer to our ability and commitment. The pack was superband was well marshalled by the half backs. The Man of the Match was tight head prop Lee Brincat."
Scorers for Rumney : Keith Franklin try, Emil Griffiths try, Michael Deacon 3 penalties and 2 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "This was a tremendous game with both sides looking to run the ball and it was well refereed by Steven Fry. Considering that Taff's Well were down to fourteen men for most of the game they showed great resilience and just about deserved to win. The match was a credit to rugby at this level."
Michael Deacon, Coach Rumney RFC : "It must have been too much Christmas booze ! We were beaten by what was probably the best part of the Taff's Well 1st team and we have no excuses."
Scorers for Rumney : Jason Wheeler try, Martin Buckley try, Shaun Hill try, Chris Walsh try, Michael Deacon penalty and 3 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A hard, tough game. Ten minutes before half time we were 0 -10 down but just before the interval Shaun Hill scored a try which Mike Deacon converted and the half time score was 10 - 13 to Old Penarthians. Our pack got on top in the second half and though it was never a comfortable win we did deserve the victory."
Mark Oliver, Coach Rumney RFC : "We had a poor start but good captaincy by Wayne Collier brought us back to play tight rugby and then let the ball flow. A gutsy second half performance from the pack set up a platform for the backs to show off their skills. Man of the Match, Robbie Regan."
Scorers for Rumney : Martin Buckley 2 tries, Jeff Norman 2 tries, Darren Phillips try, Emyr Griffiths try, Shaun Hill try, Dave Williams try, Mike Deacon 5 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "An excellent performance all round with the victory being set up by a very controlled front eight. The scrummaging was superb and this denied possession to Dinas Powys and allowed us to dictate the game. The pack as a whole performed brilliantly and Stuart Burnette's running and tackling was outstanding, he thoroughly deserved his Man of the Match award."
Jeff Norman, second row Rumney RFC : "This game was in the best tradition of 3rd XV rugby, all heat and effort with experienced players combining with up and coming youngsters. The outstanding front row of Wayne Collier, Charlie Brincat and Spike Brown laid the foundations of the win. After thirty minutes we were able to grind down a spirited Dinas Powys side and there were excellent performances all over the pitch. Mike Deacon controlled the game well from outside half and Martin Buckley and Jason Wheeler showed plenty of pace, and excellent support play led to good team tries. The coaching staff were inspired and their shrewd substitutions saw coach/captain Mark Oliver make two tries and I managed a try which came straight out of the Steven Elliot school of dummies. A top quality performance which augurs well for the future."
Scorers for Rumney : Matthew Williams 2 tries, Martin Buckley 2 tries, Stuart Burnette try, Keith Franklin try, John Popple try, Andy McCormack try, Michael Deacon 5 conversions

Scorers for Rumney : L.Feneck try, M.Buckley try, S.Burnette try, M.Feneck try, R.Sutton try, W.Barry try, Martin Perks 2 tries, penalty try, M.Gaines penalty and 5 conversions
Mike Deacon, Coach, Rumney RFC : "This was a typical local derby with St. Peters killing a lot of ball. Our Chairman, Andy Jones is a vetran of many campaigns and being used to that type of rugby, put in an outstanding performance. It shows that there is still a place for local derbies in District rugby. It was never going to be champagne rugby but it was still good to see some old boys enjoying themselves. Many thanks to all the players for turning up on an international Saturday."
Wayne Barry, Rumney RFC : "I got the call up that an auxillary back was needed. I followed the link road to Rumney RFC but suffered a diesel failure and telling the kids to stay in the vehicle, I ran to the fuel suppliers, purchased a can, dashed back and filled the vehicle. The battery was flat so I sent out a call for help to my brother. I legged it to Halfords for a set of jump leads, jump started the vehicle and we were once again en route to Rumney RFC. I entered the arena in the second half and scored a fine try. It was a flowing game but they had no answer to the old Basil dummy !"
Scorers for Rumney : Jason Wheeler try and 2 conversions, Edwin Ford 2 tries, Mark Gaines conversion
Gary Kirk, Rumney RFC : "Caerau had a big, heavy pack but with good possession we ran them ragged. It was a very gutsy display, Mark Gaines controlled the game well and Jason Wheeler and Paul Willis put in outstanding performances."
Scorers for Rumney : Matthew Williams try, Jason Wheeler try, Matthew Miller 3 tries, Mike Deacon 2 conversions, Shaun Moore penalty
Mark Oliver, Coach Rumney RFC : "It was an exciting and entertaining game which benefitted from some good refereeing. Wayne Collier was playing his 400th game for Rumey and as Captain turned in a fine performance to be voted Man of the Match. Club Chairman Andy Jones played very well and was extremely pleased by the all round performance of the side. Thanks must also go to Mike Deacon for all the hard work he puts in for the team."
Scorers for Rumney : Jason Wheeler try, Michael Feneck try, Michael Deacon penalty and conversion
Jim O'Brien,
Rumney RFC : "This was a terrific game which we just about
deserved to win. Jason Wheeler's match winning try was superb
and finished off an excellent passing movement by Mark Gaines
and Shaun Moore. Man of the Match was hooker Keith Franklin."
Scorers for Rumney : Paul Niblett try, Lee Miller try, Charlie Brincatt penalty
Mark Oliver, Coach Rumney RFC : "This was a very good game. Our pack anihilated the opposition but it was frustrating not to score more points considering the amount of ball we won. Special thanks must go to Andy Jones and Spike Brown who had excellent games. Man of the Match, Mike Brown."
Scorers for Rumney : Edwin Ford try, Jason Wheeler try, Michael Deacon conversion
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "At the end of the day missed kicks cost us the game. Llandaff tackled like demons and deserved to win, there were too many ball watchers on the Rumney side. Man of the Match, Paul Fowler."
Scorers for Rumney : G.Locke try, S.Burnett try, P.Willis 2 tries, M.Buckley 2 tries, J.Cardino try. M,Milson try, M.Perks try, S.Page try, L.Brincat try and conversion, D.Phillips conversion
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "This was a very one sided game, Bewdley is a new team on a short tour and we proved too strong for them. There was a very good performance from youth player Paul Bull and Steven Page played well in the second row and so did Gareth locke on the wing."
Scorers for Rumney : Jason Wheeler 3 tries, Edwin Ford try, Emyr Griffiths try, Darren Phillips try and 2 conversions, Mark Gaines conversion
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A gutsy performance coming back strongly after being 14 - 18 down at half time. Youth prop Charlie Velasco, Keith Franklin and Barry Chambers had oustanding games with Charlie Velasco being voted Man of the Match."
Scorers for Rumney : J.Wheeler 3 tries, D.Lewis try, E.Ford 3 tries and 1 conversion, M.Buckley try, D.Phillips try and 10 conversions, J.Greedy 2 tries, D.Williams try
Mike Deacon, Player Coach Rumney RFC : "Considering that it was our first game the forwards and backs gelled quite well. We weathered Canton's early pressure well and there was outsatnding back row play from Shaun Hill and Barry Chambers. Man of the Match : Barry Chambers."
