Scorers for Rumney : L.Plumber try and conversion and penalty, G.McCarthy try and drop goal
Scorers for Rumney : D.Doubler try, P.Niblett try, J.Huntley try, L.Barnett penalty and 2 conversions
Ian Coughlin, Rumney RFC : "It was a good game, a real classic. The boys stuck at it and put in a fine team performance all round. Lee Barnett, Gareth Bowen and Chris Jones played very well and Ryan Fenton had an outstanding game but this was a solid, all round team performance. Rumney did not panic when St Peters were 21 - 15 ahead late in the game and they held it together well."
Ryan Fenton, flanker Rumney Youth : "A hard game. We rucked and mauled well and stuck at it until we pressurised them into making mistakes. We gained from the mistakes they made and ran in the tries."
Scorers for Rumney : Gareth McCarthy try, Lee Barnett penalty
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "We planned to ruck and maul strongly and then get the ball to our runners. We played to the pattern for sixty minutes but in the final ten minutes we were up against it, the backs were starved of clean possession and we had no second and third phase runners. The scrums were ok until that last ten minutes but when ex-Rumney player Nathan Trevett scored a try against us it proved to be the turning point. I could not have asked for more from the boys, they gave everything and I am very proud of them. Ryan Fenton was absolutely outstanding and was the Rumney Man of the Match. We shall learn from this and are determined to come out on top in our forthcoming Cardiff and District Cup semi final."

Scorers for Rumney : J.Offside try, D.Buhagiar try, P.Niblett try, G.Locke try, R.Sutton try, L.Barnett 4 conversions
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "An excellent performance from Rumney Youth with captain Paul Niblett absolutely outstanding. The pack performed heroics against a much bigger side and the back row were everywhere. Compared with the midweek display against Canton Youth, this game was so much better it was unbelievable."
Paul Niblett, Captain Rumney Youth : "The touring side had a night out last night and we went out too to celebrate an eighteenth birthday so things evened themselves out and the first half was finely balanced. Our fitness told in the second half and we played a lot of good rugby. Braintree are a good side and they gave us some problems."
Gareth Locke,
Rumney Youth : "It was a good game, we made the most of
our attacking strength in the backs and our quick recycling. Sometimes
possession was slow from the forwards and we need to improve our
discipline but we managed to score from the opposition's mistakes.
I enjoyed the first half in the centre and then switched to full
back, I got plenty of good ball and managed to score a try. The
Man of the Match was Paul Niblett."

Scorers for Rumney : P.Niblett try, J.Offside try, R.Crimmins try, L.Barnett 2 conversions
Ian Coughlin, Rumney RFC : "Not a bad game and having had to make a number of changes through injuries, it was quite entertaining. Scrum Half James O'Sullivan was Man of the Match."
Scorers for Rumney : P.Niblett 2 tries, L.Plumber try, J.Huntley try, penalty try, L.Barnett conversion
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Rumney outplayed a much larger side and now progress to the semi final where they will meet St.Peters."
Scorers for Rumney : Paul Nash try, Chris Jones try, Lee Barnett penalty and 2 conversions
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "This was our first game for seven weeks and we started well for the first twenty minutes but died off towards half time. We didn't play too well in the second half either and you could see we were out of sorts because our running in the last twenty minutes was not as good as it usually is but Andrew Feehan and Paul Nash had very good games and we got the win that we really needed."
Paul Niblett, Captain Rumney Youth : "We started the first half well but things went patchy and Llanharan came back into it. We played into a strong wind but when we turned round, instead of using the wind, we made silly errors but nevertheless we got the win we needed."
Scorers for Rumney : Ryan Fenton try, Keiron Locke try

Scorers for Rumney : Chris Jones try, Steven Bullock conversion
Dave Hale, Chairman Rumney Youth : "Newport were strong and mature particularly in the front five. They played typical Gwent rugby, nothing fancy or chancey, just take it on and take it on. On the few occassions we got into their twenty two they played percentage rugby. We have always played Newport twice a year and this is their strongest ever side, they are very good with no weak links and have already beaten Cardiff. Even so our tackling could have been better."
Scorers for Rumney : Gareth Bowen try, Gareth McCarthy penalty
Phil Bowen, Rumney RFC : "We started off slowly against a much bigger side but we came back into it and were in contention until the last ten minutes. We made a few wrong decisions and gave away some silly tries at the end but really it was a close game."
Gareth Bowen, centre Rumney Youth : "Aberavon were a big bunch of boys and we stuck up to them well. They had the better start but we were unlucky in the end not to come away with something."
Scorers for Rumney : Gareth Newman try, Steven Bullock penalty
Paul Niblett, Captain Rumney Youth : "This was a poor performance, we didn't really start playing until thirty minutes into the first half and by then we were two tries down. We knew we were capable of beating Tumble and we played the better rugby but we couldn't get the points."
Martin Perks, Rumney RFC : "With the exception of two, brief ten minute periods, we didn't have the ball and we didn't contest. Tumble's dominant back row was a decisive feature in the game. Man of the Match for Rumney, Jamie Braine."
Scorers for Rumney : Paul Niblett 3 tries, Lee Barnett try, Steven Bullock penalty and conversion
Scorer for Rumney : Gareth McCarthy drop goal
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A very committed performance from a young Rumney side who stood up to the task manfully. They did very well and it was a brilliant drop goal from Gareth McCarthy which won the round since this game was switched to Riverside Park at UWIC's request and was therefore an 'away' game for Rumney ! "
Scorers for Rumney : Lee Barnett try, Nathan Trevett try, Gareth McCarthy try
Scorers for Rumney: Paul Niblett try, Michael Feneck try
Scorers for Rumney : Keiron Lock try, Nathan Trevett try, Ryan Sutton try, Richard Merrett try, Steven Bullock conversion, Gareth McCarthy conversion
Martin Perks, Rumney RFC : "We started off slowly and were not in it much for the first twenty minutes, perhaps it was lack of confidence after last week's defeat but UWIC went ten points ahead. We slowly got back into it and started the second half with a bang and once we began to control possession things started to look rosy, but we let them back in before a purple ten minutes swung the game our way again. We did give away an interception try but we came back strongly once again to win the match. Man of the Match : Nathan Trevett."
Paul Niblett,
Captain Rumney Youth : "It was a scrappy game and as usual
we started very slowly, but once we got into motion we knew we
could score the tries. We got our noses in front but then we took
our foot off the gas and let UWIC back into the game. We won but
it was a poor end to the game."

Rumney Youth : 15.K.Lock 14.G.Locke 13.G.Bowen 12.P.Niblett 11.P.Nash 10.L.Barnett 9.J.O'Sullivan 1.N.Trevett 2.S.Bullock 3.C.Valesco 4.J.Braine 5.R.Sutton 6.R.Evans 7.P.Bull 8.C.Jones Subs : W.Storey L.Plumber A.Carter N.Bridle

Steve Ford , Coach Rumney
Youth : "We knew we were up against a much bigger team.
Newport were four or five inches bigger per man and that goes
a long way in youth rugby but Rumney did put in a good performance.
We were starved of possession for ninety percent of the game and
although we struggled in the rucks and set pieces, the boys got
stuck in there and did well. They tackled their hearts out, we
had plenty of tackling practice today ! Newport were well drilled
and are probably the best team in our league. We'll battle on
from this game and learn from the good points."
