Scorers for Rumney : David Willey try, Shane McIntosh try

Blackwood were too powerful for Rumney and secured a season's double at Glan Yr Afon Park. It was the visitors who opened the scoring when outside half Ben Mathew supplied centre David Willey with a well timed pass which he took at speed, giving him the opportunity to create a good break and drive through the defence to score. Jason Powell brought Blackwood back level as the flanker was driven over and Gavin Rees gave them the lead when he finished off a break by scrum half Owen Jones. Wayne Simms scored the first of his two tries and outside half Neil Barber added Blackwood's fourth try and winger Stuart Rees their fifth. Rumney's new signing, centre Shane McIntosh, showed his strong running abilities and crashed through the home side's tacklers for the visitors' second try but Blackwood lock Simms and centre Chris Lay struck back with tries to seal victory.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A game where we could not compete with a very good Blackwood side. Tthey had a very powerful set of forwards which denied us any platform to work from. We were very unfortunate to have lost a number of key players due to injury, I am sure that with a full squad we would have given a better performance. We now move to our game against Bedwas."
