Mattew Silva's penalty goal was Rumney's only score against Newbridge at The Welfare Ground. The home side ran in three tries and fly half Jason Williams missed only one of his eight kicks at goal. He hit the Rumney posts with an attempted penalty after eight minutes and when Newbridge regained the ball it was Williams who cut through and scored under the posts. Former Rumney flanker Simon Greedy scored Newbridge's next try and with Williams adding three penalties the half time score was 23 - 3. The only try of the second half resulted from a turnover with Newbridge flanker Jonathan Bowd running in for the touchdown and Williams later added a fourth penalty to give a final score of 33 - 3.
