Scorers for Rumney : Stuart McIntyre try, Gareth Cleaver try, Matthew Silva 3 penalties and 1 conversion

Rumney bowed out of the Principality Cup as they went down to a Llandovery side whom they had heavily defeated a month earlier. A fine break from the base of a scrum saw Rumney scrum half Gareth Cleaver cut through The Drovers' defence to dive over unopposed for the opening try. Matthew Silva converted and kicked two first half penalties to give the home side a promising 13 - 11 lead at the interval but after half time Llandovery fly half Neil Clapham set off on a sidestepping run which saw him touchdown under the Rumney posts and threequarters Iwan Davies and Tracy Lewis added further tries for the visitors. The closing minutes saw a well placed chip by Silva leading to a Stuart McIntyre try but by then the gap was too big to close.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A game which we could have won but we didn't play with the same cutting edge as last week. It turned out to be a very disjointed performance and Llandovery deserved their victory, I wish them well in the next round. I was disappointed to bow out of the cup but now we must focus on our league campaign. We look forward to our game on Boxing day with Cross Keys."

Dave Escott, Rugby Secretary, Rumney RFC : "Neither side put in a particularly good performance but we were totally outplayed by Llandovery. Some individuals played well but we did not function at all as a team. We let in simple tries whereas in the past our defence has been good. We put a lot of pressure on The Drovers but never turned it into points."
