Scorer for Rumney : A.Moore try

Scorer for Treorchy : D.Owen 5 penalties

Rumney scored the only try of the match but conceded a large number of penalties which allowed Treorchy to win the game on kicks. The home side's outside half David Owen was successful with a hat trick of penalties in the first quarter and added a fourth after thirty five minutes to give the Zebras a 12 - 0 half time lead. Immediately after the interval Rumney secured possession from a line out near the Treorchy line and the pack drove forward for Anthony Moore to score the pushover try. This try brought a sustained period of pressure from the visitors but the home defence held firm and Owen landed two more penalties. Rumney made every effort to stage a grandstand finish but were unable to score and the league points went to the Zebras.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "What a very disappointing performance from the squad! After our great display against Llandovery last week this game must have bordered on our worst effort this season. I realise we had a few players missing due to injury but those players selected should have been good enough for us to have come away with a win. We need now to regroup and focus on next weeks game against Bonymaen."

Andy Jones, Chairman Rumney RFC : "The game was there for the taking but we missed a number of important kicks and left it all too late. The forwards were good and the lines out and scrums went well but we lacked enterprise in the backs."
