Glamorgan Wanderers staged a dramatic second half fight back to clinch victory at The Memorial Ground. Rumney seemed to be well in charge as they created a 0 -14 first half lead with wing Stuart McIntyre sprinting sixty metres for a try and outside half Tommy Price kicking three penalties. On the other wing, Ian McIntyre was hauled down by opposite number Owain Thomas or Rumney would have been out of sight but just before the interval Wanderers' full back Jason Pockock kicked a penalty and started his side's revival. Nevertheless it required a try saving tackle by skipper Garan Treharne on Rumney number 8 Gavin Lucas to keep his side in the game but from then on the Wanderers became dominant and sharp threequarter play saw wing Adrian Evans crossing wide out. Shortly afterwards Pockock found a large gap in the Rumney defence and crossed for the home side's second try and in the closing minutes succeeded with two penalty kicks on goal which gave his side an important win.
Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A very poor performance from the squad. After building up a comfortable 14 points to 3 lead at the turn around, we should have turned up the pressure and secured the win. Looking back at the game, if the try we scored in the first ten minutes of this half was allowed then it may have been a completely different result. In fairness to the Wanderers they were given a life line and they took it with both hands, recording a very important result for their league position. We must look now to our next game against Newbridge".
