Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Quite an entertaining game and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Edwin Ford was dangerous all night and Brian O'Connor never stopped working."

Larry Feneck, scrum half Rumney Veterans : "A good spirited game from both sides. Edwin Ford was the difference between the teams and he put in an outstanding performance. It was a good, hard contest between Mike Deacon and Richard Facey which nearly went into Round 2. Tony Smith spent a lot of time in the changing roon doing his hair and it was nice to see him playing in the backs even if he is built like a forward."

Tony Smith, scrum half St Albans Veterans : "There was an amazing level of fitness considering the maximum age was fifty eight. It is truly harder to play at this level because you are all playing at the same pace and you are doing more work. Micky Crimmins had an outstanding game, Mike Deacon had a stormer and I was more than happy with veteran Shaun Sheehan, a real chip off the old block. The good hospitality at Rumney is exceptional."
