Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Quite an entertaining game and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Edwin Ford was dangerous all night and Brian O'Connor never stopped working."
Larry Feneck, scrum half Rumney Veterans : "A good spirited game from both sides. Edwin Ford was the difference between the teams and he put in an outstanding performance. It was a good, hard contest between Mike Deacon and Richard Facey which nearly went into Round 2. Tony Smith spent a lot of time in the changing roon doing his hair and it was nice to see him playing in the backs even if he is built like a forward."
Tony Smith, scrum half St Albans Veterans : "There was an amazing level of fitness considering the maximum age was fifty eight. It is truly harder to play at this level because you are all playing at the same pace and you are doing more work. Micky Crimmins had an outstanding game, Mike Deacon had a stormer and I was more than happy with veteran Shaun Sheehan, a real chip off the old block. The good hospitality at Rumney is exceptional."

Mark Oliver, Rumney RFC : "Rumney started slowly and we kicked away a lot of possession but the forwards played very well with hooker Rob Regan winning balls against the head. In the second half we opened it up and the backs did a lot of damage with Jason Wheeler cutting through the opposition, while our own defence held out very well. The Man of the Match was Matthew Williams."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Apart from scoring in the first twenty seconds, Rumney were pretty poor at first and could not put things together. The second half was much better and resulted in a thoroughly deserved win. Matthew Spencer played well until he had to come off with an injury, but once again we were well beaten up front. The Man of the Match was Mark Harrington."
Scorers for Rumney : P.Fowler try, M.Milsom try and conversion
Alan Paynter, Rumney RFC : "After an impressive first half, we found ourselves with discipline problems in the second half which resulted in a loss of control and finally we managed to lose the game too."

Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "A good game played in an excellent spirit and judging by the way the Illtydians played, I'd never have believed that we could win by so much. Rumney produced good rugby and scored some nice tries. Darren Phillips on the wing played well all afternoon and deserved his try. Referee Steven Fry had a good game too. David Evans was the Man of the Match."
