Scorers for Rumney : D.Doubler try, L.Plummer try, L.Barnett conversion and penalty
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "Rumney scored first, ten minutes into the game and we lead 10 - 0 at half time but the Wanderers came back to give a score of ten all at full time. It was then an extra ten minutes each way and a brilliany breal by Paul Nash put Lincoln Plummer in for a try after five minutes. We turned around and tried to shut out the opposition, they landed a penalty and failed with a drop goal and we hung on. It was a fantastic game of rugby."
Mike Deacon, Rumney RFC : "If ever there was proof that a David can beat a Goliath, this was it. An excellent performance by a very young Rumney Youth team, of whom only three will be going up to senior rugby next season. We planned to defend against the Wanderers driving line out and took plenty of turnover ball which we were then able to supply to our talented backs. With the experience gained this year, Rumney can now look forward to starting an outstanding new season in September."
Scorers for Rumney : P.Bull try, L.Barnett conversion
Scorers for Rumney : L.Kahn 2 tries, L.Plummer try, L.Barnett 3 conversions
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "Following on from last week's outstanding win against St Peters we were on a high and ended up struggling in this game. St Albans battled well up front and although we won enough ball we spilled a lot of passes and failed to get any real phases of play going. In the second half we dug in and did well playing into a strong wind. The Man of the Match was Jamie Braine."

Scorers for Rumney : L.Plummer 2 tries, J.Offside try, J.Theophanides try, L.Barnett 3 penalties and 3 conversions
Gareth Bowen, centre Rumney Youth : "It was a great win, we played some open, attractive rugby and ran them off the park. As a rival, local Cardiff team, St Peters were not able to match us at all tonight."

Scorers for Rumney : L.Plummer 2 tries, G.Newman try, L.Brincat conversion
Jim O'Brien, Rumney RFC : "Rumney Youth stuck to the task against a much bigger side and although they went 7 - 0 down in the first five minutes, they showed great courage to bring themselves back into the game and achieve a fine victory. Martin Edwards refereed the game particularly well."

Scorers for Rumney : L.Plummer 2 tries, J.Smith try, P.Nash try, D.Doubler try, B.Phillips try, L.Barnett 2 conversions
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "Over the last three or four games we have been putting passes together for fifteen or twenty minutes. Our aim is to eliminate mistakes but we only managed to stretch it to twenty five or thirty minutes tonight. We did play well for longer periods but we gave away too many penalties and are still very indisciplined. Our aim is to play good rugby for longer periods and we are getting there. Lincoln Plummer took his two tries well and is an outstanding talent. The Man of the Match was Paul Nash."
Paul Bull, Captain and No8 Rumney Youth : "The boys played well with the forwards competing in all phases of what was a hard game. The backs' passing was crisp and they brought off some worthwhile moves with Paul Nash and Lincoln Plummer breaking the opposition line. Thanks to Paul Niblett and Ryan Sutton who helped us out and had good games."
Lincoln Plummer, left wing Rumney Youth : " It was a tight game to begin with and then we just took control. My first try came from Gareth Bowen's crash ball, I was in support and gathered to score under the posts and for the second one I went in and tried to rip the ball out so that I could run it in. I enjoyed it, it was an exciting game to play in."
Jamie Braine, second row Rumney Youth : "I enjoyed it, it was a tough match. Glyn School kept it in the forwards and were quite skilled and powerful. When our backs started to spread it out they scored good tries and Lincoln Plummer was outstanding."
Rebecca Elliott, Physio Rumney Youth : "I enjoyed the game but there were a lot of injuries and I had to look after the two sides. Jay Smith was brilliant and Ryan Fenton always plays well. I must mention Cyril Locke who sorted out the jerseys and looked after the money !"

Scorers for Rumney : P.Nash 2 tries, M.Lee 2 tries, L.Plummmer try, L.Barnett 4 conversions
Cyril Locke, Rumney RFC : "The weather conditions were not good and we should have used them to our advantage in the first half, but after the interval, and although we were playing against a very strong wind, our game improved vastly and we showed a lot of good ball handling. Some of our younger players Craig Smith, Lewis Fox, Liam Facey and John Ledbetter all came on and did very well. The Man of the Match was Josh Theophanedes."
Paul Bull, Captain and No8 Rumney Youth : "We didn't get going in the first half and it was too scrappy but we used the ball better in the second half and ran in some very good tries. It was a tough battle up front but we had a little more power there. Josh Theophanedes put in a fine performance, so did Mark Lee in the centre, and Alistair Pearce , who has just joined us from Wrexham, had an excellent debut in the second row."
Alistair Pearce, second row Rumney Youth : "The windy conditions were very bad but we actually played better in the second half against the wind. It was a tough game but our defence was good. We fought back in the second half and with the set pieces improving, we found we had the beating of Barry, though we still made a few mistakes. The pack played well and stuck together in the wet conditions, we had a strong scrum and the lineouts were good too."

Scorers for Rumney : A.Leach try, P.Nash try
Steven Page, lock Rumney Youth : "A hard fought match in which we worked well as a team, creating a lot of positive play but also being negative in patches. We showed we can play well but silly mistakes and poor discipline let us down again. We need to get more people training and improve our technique. Prop Daniel Doubler was the Man of the Match, he had a good, hard game, putting in good tackles and showing the way for the younger lads."
Scorers for Rumney : P.Bull try, G.Bowen penalty and conversion
Cyril Locke, Rumney Youth Committee : "We were winning until the second half but Beddau were a very big side and their full back had an excellent game, running in two breakaway tries from which we could not come back. The Man of the Match was Gareth Bowen."
Paul Bull, Captain and No8 Rumney Youth : "We started ok and got strong towards the end of the first half but we gave away silly penalties and allowed Carmarthen to build a lead. Once their tails were up we could not catch them. The Man of the Match was Ryan Fenton."
Jamie Braine, second row Rumney Youth : "Once our heads started going down our threequarters could not keep out their strong running backs and they scored the important tries."
Scorers for Rumney Youth : L.Barnett try and 2 conversions, D.Lewis try
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "This was probably our poorest performance of the season but we stuck at it and scored some good tries. We were 0 - 6 down at half time but we hung in there and at the end of the day a win is a win. These are worrying times for youth rugby and I would like to encourage any young players who want to enjoy some good rugby to come down and join us. The Man of the Match was Stephen Paige."
Scorers for Rumney : P.Bull try, J.Braine try, B.Phillips try, J.Offside try, J.Smith try, H.Williams try, L.Barnett 3 conversions
Scorers for Rumney Youth : L.Plummer try, L.Barnett penalty and conversion
Ian Coughlin, Rumney RFC : "A hard fought game. Though Maesteg were much more phsical up front we had the edge in the backs. We stuck at it and Lincoln Plumber scored a good try when he raced after a kick through and touched the ball down. The Man of the Match was Mark Lee."
Ryan Fenton, flanker Rumney Youth : "A very scrappy game in which the Maesteg forwards tried to push us around but our pack did alright and held them for most of the match. The backs played well when they had the ball but we did give away too many penalties. The second half was a lot better and if we had played like that all through the game we would have won."

Scorers for Rumney : L.Plummer 2 tries, L.Barnett conversion
Cyril Locke, Rumney RFC : "Tonyrefail were much bigger in the forwards and three of their tries came from pushovers. We gave away too many penalties and it was from those penalties that they scored. Winger Lincoln Plummer created two good individual tries, he got the ball and he was away and Lincoln was also voted Man of the Match."
Scorers for Rumney : J.Smith try, L.Khan try, P.Nash conversion, L.Barnett conversion
Scorers for Rumney : J.Smith try, L.Barnett conversion
Martin Perks, Rumney Youth Committee
: "A very scrappy game with lots of whistle. We took a long
time to get into our stride and only really started playing in
the last fifteen minutes. We got plenty of possession and hopefully
we just had an off day."
David Doubler, scrum half Rumney Youth : "This game just didn't go for us. Scrummaging wise we were o.k. but the rucking and mauling was appalling and we weren't coming up together in a line. As a team we didn't really work well together today."
Martin Perks

Scorers for Rumney : J.Smith try, B.Phillips try, L.Barnett penalty and 2 conversions
Cyril Locke, Rumney Youth Committee : "A hard fought match which we entered without our normal front row. We were very disjointed and suffering from a lot of injuries, but it was a very committed performance by a young team. Rumney's defence was very good and tackled everything. Jay Smith bounced his opposite number off and scored a good try and then Barry Phillips charged down a loose kick for another try, which Lee Barnett converted. After all the cry offs there was 100% effort from those who played and the boys performed to a very high standard."
Lee Barnett, outside half
Rumney Youth : "I enjoyed the game and things went very
well for us. We got stuck in and the defence held out for the
whole match. It was a good, controlled game and I gained in experience
from it. We weren't used to this pack but we dug in and came off
with a victory."

Scorers for Rumney : A.Feehan try, B.Phillips try, L.Barnett conversion and 3 penalties
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "We only gave away four penalties all day. We talked about discipline this week and it really showed today. We finally had a good platform to work on and we scored three tries. We train hard and put in a lot of effort to improve, we got over the first hurdle today but there are plenty more to go. It was a well deserved win and I hope this good attitude stays with us. Centre Gareth Bowen basically ran the show for us today, his handling and tackling was superb and he was the Man of the Match."
Blain Fish, wing Rumney Youth : "I enjoyed the match, it was my first game for Rumney and I had a good time. I thought Mark Lee had a good game at centre and our forwards went well winning rucks, mauls and plenty of second phase."
Scorer for Rumney : L.Barnett penalty
Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth : "We did not have a platform and the Wanderers were able to dominate the lines, scrums, rucks and mauls - we weren't strong enough in those areas and so were unable to use our exciting backs. We will learn from this very hard lesson amd will not play so badly again this season. It was good to see our outstanding back row player Carl Barker returning to the side after fourteen months absence following injury. Rumney have just been promoted to the BT Premier Division so we are looking forward to playing Maesteg next week and games against Pontypool and Carmarthen in the weeks to come."
Cyril Locke, Rumney RFC : "We played against a well drilled side and contested everything up front, but if we had been able to get better ball the backs could have done a lot more. It was a hard game and we learned a lot from today, especially about those areas which we need to improve on."
James O'Sullivan, scrum half Rumney Youth : "I can't say I enjoyed it because we lost but there were some good periods when it all came together for a while. In the middle twenty minutes we were on top but couldn't keep it up. I thought Barry Phillips played very well. The Wanderers were very organised, they weren't more talented than us but they did want it more. We'll be back and I'm looking forward to the return game when I hope we'll beat them."

Steve Ford, Coach Rumney Youth, : "This was our first game of the season, we kicked off well and within fifteen minutes had scored some good tries. In the period before half time we lost shape and started playing as individuals but during the interval we gathered our thoughts and in the second half scored some more excellent tries, but we will be examining the reasons why we did not perform well at times. We had seven players away in the Central Wales trial today and when they return we will be looking very strong. We did score over fifty points so we can not complain but we do need to work harder on our defence. The Man of the Match was Lincoln Plummer."
Ian Coughlin, Rumney RFC : "A very good performance considering that it was our first game and that so many players were away at the trial. In fact it was an exceptionally good performance with many players making their debuts. Andrew Feehan was outstanding and Ryan Fenton went extremely well. An excellent all round display with which to start the season."
