Bonymaen 25   Rumney 0

This was an afternoon when Rumney were unable to recapture their form of Tuesday night, when they decisively beat Bedwas, and went down to an enterprising Bonymaen side without putting a point on the board. Bonymaen bubbled from the start and five minutes into the game winger Nicki Bonham completed a swift, handling movement by crossing in the corner for the opening try. Rumney rallied and at times drove the home forwards back to their own line but soon a series of Bonymaen attacks were only kept out by desperate defence and finally flanker Andrew Llewellyn crossed for the home side's second try. Ten minutes before half time Bonymaen broke away in the Rumney twenty two and an eighty metre burst of swift handling and passing saw winger Chris Batsford scoring an excellent touchdown. The score at the interval was 17 - 0 and in the second period Bonymaen added a Stuart Davies penalty and a fourth try, a pushover credited to No8 Lloyd Griffiths.

Shaun Lee, Coach Rumney RFC 1st XV : "A very disappointing performance from the squad. We welcomed Bedwas in a mid week fixture and played very well, we started to show how we could perform and came away with a fully deserved victory. This performance today was very poor and the players realise that they must perform far better than this to survive in First Division rugby. We now move on to our fixture against Whitland at home on Saturday."
