Scorers for Rumney : D.Willey try, J.Balfrey conversion and 2 penalties
For the third time this season Rumney were denied victory by a late penalty kick. Daniel Griffith's successful kick in the eightieth minute was a cruel blow and an all too familiar scene for Rumney supporters who have seen their team go down to Beddau and Treorchy at Riverside Park in similar circumstances. Whitland started strongly and set up a series of mauls which took them upfield, but Rumney hit back with an excellent counter attack with speedy centre David Willey scoring a try under the posts. Outside half James Balfrey converted and added two penalties but the visitors kept in touch through two Griffiths penalties and their forward tactics were finally rewarded when Fakatah Mollatika bounced off the fringe of a rolling mall for Whitland's try. Rumney's woes were further compounded when a lineout infringement resulted in Griffiths putting over the last gasp kick which won the game.
