Andrew Carlson, Vice Captain Rumney Youth : "Rumney did not turn up on the day. We had won four on the trot without a try scored against us, and then we lose like this, we were too big for our boots. Forwards and backs failed to respond to the situation, though Man of the Match Calvin Maynard was superb."

Mike Deacon, Coach Rumney Youth : "An excellent result both for the youth section and the whole club, a much needed boost for Rumney RFC. The boys stuck to the game plan that was in place although the coaches feel that the side played at seventy five percent of their ability, very understandable considering the circumstances, this was a very big cup semi final. The lineout and scrum were both very effective and the team showed its abilities in all departments with outstanding performances from blind side flanker Matthew Way, hooker Mike Catris and behind the scrum, Luke Ford. The side is currently top of the league and is in two district quarter finals as well, but the Welsh Youth Cup Final is the icing on the cake. The coaches and everyone involved are very proud of team and the standards the boys have set so far."
Luke Ford, Rumney Youth : "Rumney played very well, our preparation was really good and we gelled as a team. By keeping a cool head we got the better of them from the start, the front row was outstanding, props John Leadbeatter and Celvin Maynard were excellent and hooker Mike Catris won balls against the head, and winger Tom Daley and Lloyd White, who hasn't played for ages, did very well."

John Leadbeatter, Captain Rumney Youth : "Rumney showed very good discipline and the defence was superb. The first try came from skilful handling along the line and up and coming young winger Rob Harry crossed to score, and the second try followed an excellent break by flanker Daniel Morris who popped it to Owen Tresillian to score in the corner. Lloyd White's penalty put the cherry on the cake and Lloyd was also voted Man of the Match."

Mike Deacon, Coach Rumney Youth : "A good open game considering it was cup rugby and we stuck to the plans we have been working on in training. Strong, physical running by the forwards and sharp finishing by the backs gave us a good result and the coaches are very pleased. Daniel Morris put in an outstanding performance and the Man of the Match was Craig Smith."
Anthony Solomon, outside half Rumney Youth : "Rumney played really well from the start and a good performance from the backs with superb handling. The forwards were particularly strong at the set pieces and gave us good ball to work with, so from a scrum I was able to throw a dummy and go through the gap for a try. There were very good perforances from Daniel Morris, Shane Regan and captain John Leadbetter."

Scorers for Rumney Youth : M.Way 2 tries, S.Regan try, O.Tresillian try
Ian Coughlan, Rumney RFC : "An excellent league game with everyone committed from No1 to 22. The backs were absolutely outstanding and all the forwards played well, in fact it was an outstanding performance by the whole squad and the coaches. Owen Tresillian created a spectacular try by sidestepping one player, chipping over the top, gathering the ball and crossing in the corner for a brilliant score. The Man of the Match was Matthew Way."
Cyril Locke, Rumney RFC : "They put it together very well today, the lineouts were superb and the rucking and mauling was all in place. Flanker Daniel Morris was absolutely everywhere, it was the best game of the season so far."
