Most
members and supporters of Rumney RFC will be aware from the press,
both national and local, of the tragic death of Keiron on Friday
7th January 2000. Our thoughts naturally go out to his parents,
family and friends, not least all at Tredegar RFC whom he rejoined
this season from Rumney.
Keiron never gave anything less than his maximum effort for whatever side he represented and that included Wales 'A' and Wales Youth. He first joined Rumney RFC for the 1994-95 season which was the start of Rumney's promotion run to Division 1. Keiron was a most valued member of the side and only believed in leading by example. He formed part of a pack of forwards who invariably got the better of their opponents. That season Keiron played in 18 of the 22 games and he would constantly remind his threequarters that it was his job to help them get the ball to score, and this he invariably did.
Keiron was of course a 'Tredegar boy' and he rejoined Tredegar RFC and captained them to promotion. He came back to Rumney last season and once again his contribution to the side was immense.
His company away from the field of play was valued and enjoyable. Everyone at Rumney RFC has very fond memories of Keiron. He will be missed.
