The curtain came down on the 1999-2000 season at Riverside Park with Rumney suffering another heavy defeat but nevertheless ending up in a respectable mid-table position.
An early penalty try for Aberavon, as a result of a deliberate knock on, set Rumney back and they never really recovered. The Wizards claimed the victory with their biggest ever win over the home side. For Rumney Steve Ford, Lee Abdul, Nick Stork and Wayne Murphy crossed for tries but Aberavon replied with tries by Gareth King, Tim Green, James Taylor, Robert Price, Mervyn Meredith and Richard Morris with Matthew McCarthy converting three of them.
