Playing in Newport colours of black and amber Rumney 1st XV crashed to a 50 points to 10 defeat at Riverside Park. Simon Davies the Rumney outside-half scored all the teams points with a brilliant try, conversion and penalty. Tries for Newbridge came from Ian Perrymount (2), Martin James, Mark Addis, Jason Williams, Gareth Bisb, Jamie Sulway and Gareth Turner. Rumney Rugby Secretary Dave Escott : "There was a total lack of commitment from the twenty two players used !".
