Rumney gave a complete performance to defeat Treorchy by an overwhelming seven tries to two. Two tries in the first fifteen minutes by Phil and Steve Ford were followed with a close range score by powerful Rumney prop Paul Douglas. The Rumney pack was impressive in the tight and loose with Wayne O'Connor outstanding in defence and lock Michael Peard adding another try to his high total for the season.

Early in the second half a turnover of possession gave Rumney outside half Simon Davies the opportunity to dummy his way over the line and shortly afterwards a clever cross kick by Lee Abdul presented Phil Ford with the second of his tries. Treorchy were awarded a penalty try and they followed this with a touchdown from Steve Pearce but the final try came from Rumney centre Nick Stork who took the scoring pass from Simon Davies after another elusive run by the stand off.

Dave Escott, Rugby Secretary Rumney RFC : "A performance that has been coming for a long time. We played well in patches both at Tondu and Bonymaen but on our own patch we succeeded in bringing off this fine result. Once again our youngsters made a valuable contribution and Simon Davies controlled the game superbly at outside half. We knew the danger posed by the Treorchy No.8 and the Rumney back row were magnificent in defence with outstanding tackling on the blind side !"
