Rumney cruised to a comfortable win over visitors Tredegar at Riverside Park where the home side's adventurous approach reaped just rewards with five well taken tries. First on the score sheet was Rumney flanker Simon Greedy who collected a well timed pass from winger Phil Ford. The Rumney threequarters' handling skills showed that they are probably the best finishers in the First Division and flying wing Lee Abdul was put away for a hat trick of tries with Phil Ford also scoring after a flowing move from the backs. Abdul's interception try in the 80th minute saw him sprint the length of the pitch to touch down under the Tredegar posts.

Dave Escott, Rumney RFC : "This was a good performance overall, our backs were far superior and it is a credit to the Tredegar forwards that they contained us well up front. The try count shows that it was our attacking options that won the game rather than forward oriented movements. Our hooker Chris Pearson is a top quality player, he was very impressive today and the South African selectors have already been taking a look at him. Man of the match - winger Phil Ford".
