Rumney made it two big wins in the space of four days with this 20-23 victory at Abertillery Park. Rumney's tries were scored by Lee Abdul, Simon Enoch and Simon Davies. Outside half Davies kicked two penalties and full back Christian Wills landed a touchline conversion. Abertillery were awarded a controversial penalty try and scrum half Gareth Betts got their second try. Matthew Stent converted both tries and added two penalties.
Con Ritchie, Rumney RFC : "Rumney were worthy winners and although it was scrappy at times both sides played some good rugby but also lapsed into a kicking game. The penalty try was controversial - the ref seemed to signal for a try and then changed his mind and gave a penalty try instead. My man of the match - Michael Peard".
Stuart Carlson, Rumney RFC : "My man of the match was Max Ryce because of the series of probing runs and breaks he made !"
Billy Coles, Rumney RFC : "All in all it was a good game and those three points are what really matter. Michael 'Stretch' Peard had an excellent game in the line out and the three quarters did well too. Darren Sage was busy about the field and there was superb defence by Rumney. Christian Wills landed a great conversion from the touchline, not bad at all to be honest !".
