Tredegar 43   Rumney 26

Scorers for Rumney : Simon Enoch try, Christian Wills try, Paul Douglas try, Jason Fofana try, Nick Stork 3 conversions

This game was played at Glanyrafon Park in Blackwood because The Recreation Ground in Tredegar was being used for cricket but Tredegar felt very comfortable as the 'home' side and rattled up six tries in their biggest ever defeat of Rumney. The home forwards fought hard throughout and were always first to the breakdown and this led to tries for Tredegar from Brendan Aherne, Jared Nolan, Christian Rowlands, David Davies, Jason Lillas and captain Andrew Jewitt. Rumney could only turn on the style in patches but contributed some very adventurous and exciting play with tries from Simon Enoch, Paul Douglas, Christian Wills and Jason Fofana. Nick Stork, again playing at outside half, kicked three conversions.

Del Morgan, Rumney RFC : "A poor performance, we were beaten by a team who wanted it more than us and who capitalised on our many mistakes. The only good things came from Tredegar."

Lee Abdul, Rumney RFC : "A nightmare from a winger's point of view, it seems that it is almost impossible for us to get the ball out to the wings. We didn't have the strength and experience needed in the forwards and we often lost our own ball. In such good weather conditions we should have been spinning it wide."
