A powerful second half display brought Rumney a 17 points to 9 victory over the College at Cyncoed today. The only scores of the first half came from UWIC full back Emyr Lewis who landed two penalties. Having lost outstanding wing forward Glenn George with a bad head injury early in the first half, Rumney made further changes for the second half and stormed into action against the UWIC pack which soon showed signs of weakening. Rumney dominated at forward and this led to tries from number 8 Ben Atkins and left wing Lee Abdul. Captain Simon Davies converted both tries and added a penalty. Emyr Lewis kicked a third penalty for the College. Rumney Rugby Secretary Dave Escott : "It was a superb display with outstanding commitment from all the players. The standard was far higher than in last week's game against Newbridge and each member of the team showed dedication to the club. The initial selection and the changes on the day led to a much better result".
